The Horizon Athos elliptical trainer is designed especially for users who want a relatively cheap yet reliable piece of home-use fitness equipment to lose weight and improve their fitness levels. It is very user-friendly, compact and light in weight, and has enough variety to help someone achieve and maintain an effective fitness regimen.
As far as user comfort goes, the Horizon Athos has certain special features to ensure a comfortable, smooth and injury-free workout. To begin with, its foot plates are large as well as non-slip. So, no matter what one’s foot-size, one can position oneself comfortably. The stride-length is 16”, which is neither too long nor too short, and feels natural and smooth. Furthermore, a solid 7 kg flywheel and an ECB Magnetic Brake to control tension both add great value to the smoothness and consistency of the workout. The 16 Electronically Adjustable Resistance Levels provide enough challenge for even experienced fitness buffs to enjoy a tough workout.
The Horizon Athos features a 6 groove Poly-V driver belt, and it runs on electricity, for which a mains adaptor has been provided. The user weight capacity is an impressive 136 kg, while the trainer itself has a total weight of only 56 kg, which makes it easy to shift it around. The frame, the brake, all the other parts and the labor each come with a 2 years warranty.
The console of the Athos cross trainer offers very impressive workout variety with its 9 programmes: Plateau, Valley, Hill Interval, Mountain Climb, Mountain, Peak, Workout, Hill, CV and Strength Interval. Users have the option of consistently varying their workouts to achieve their fitness goals faster. The display of the console is a Blue Back-Lit LCD Screen and it has touch keys. The interface is user-friendly and easily navigable and the user can instantly get feedback on his/her total time, speed, distance, calories burnt, load, heart rate and odometer. For heart rate monitoring the Athos comes with a Polar Chip Receiver as well as Hand Pulse Grips.
All in all, within a budget, the Athos elliptical trainer is a very competent product and offers quite a bit more than the basic minimum that one would expect from a piece of home-use fitness equipment.
